Private Quarters: Decatur ranch house infused with modern style

Crystal Pace's modern chic home reflects her personality of wanting uniqueness. She does not like traditional types of hairstyles, clothing. Pace says, "My house looks just like me".

K Lilly Interiors developed the design concept, color scheme and furnishings, which included sourcing a patterned area rug paired with an ottoman found on Craigslist.

One accent chair has a stylish Greek key design on orange raised velvet. The Kirkland Mandarin Accent Chair, from Rooms To Go, also can recline.

For the modern chic interiors, homeowner Crystal Pace used a collection by "Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara. The sofa, loveseat and chair are from her collection, sold at Rooms To Go.

Mirrors and vases are key accessories in the Decatur ranch home. With mirrors, homeowner Crystal Pace feels as if she is adding artwork but still maintaining the sense of openness because the mirrors reflect other aspects of the room.

Instead of having another dining area that would go unused, Crystal Pace made a conversation area for herself and her friends. She placed four turquoise wingback chairs from World Market around a small table. The draperies are from At Home (formerly Garden Ridge).

An oversized vase, from Rooms to Go, is one of her favorite finds in the home. The nearly 7-foot tall vase was originally multi-colored with carvings, but John Graves of Apollo Designs sanded down the vase and repainted it to coordinate with the decor and color palette.

A round mirror from Craigslist is just one of the mirrors used to accessorize the Decatur home. The light fixture is from LampsPlus.

A partial wall in the kitchen keeps entertaining areas from feeling closed in, which appealed to homeowner Crystal Pace. The colors change from room to room, but she says they flow with each other instead of looking like a rainbow.

Above the existing cabinets and granite countertops in the kitchen, there's a mixture of metal wall art, canisters and vases. The items came from HomeGoods, Ross Dress for Less and designer Knetta Lilly.

“Your room can still look unfinished if you just focus on sofas, chairs and tables. What brings it all together are your pillows, mirrors, draperies, lighting and unique accent pieces,” the homeowner, Crystal Pace, said.

The master bedroom offered a sitting area, which has an oversized mirror, chairs and ottoman all from Craigslist. When Crystal Pace moved in, she liked the existing wall color so much that she didn't change it, although she repainted the rest of the bedroom. The draperies were customized by designer Knetta Lilly.

A search on Craigslist uncovered many affordable items for the home, including the artwork in the master bedroom. "Don’t be afraid to utilize Craigslist, Goodwill and consignment stores for gently used or consigned items when you are on a tight budget."

Instead of a traditional shower curtain, acrylic crystal beading is used around the bathtub. The beaded curtain from EventDecorDirect.com adds a shimmery effect in the master bathroom.
