PHOTOS: Marietta home's design revolves around mercury

Couple's Marietta home already had interesting interior details.

Interior designer Linda Castle had this custom mural painted for homeowners Kelsey and Schenck Wiley. The Wileys' Marietta home has 7,500 square feet, with six beds and six baths. It was built in 2006, and the newlyweds bought it in 2015.

One side of the living room features custom chairs and a classic round end table, which came from Stanley Furniture. The Karastan rug is from Roswell Rug Co.

The boxes within the grid of the coffered ceiling in the Marietta living room are painted Sherwin-Williams Virtual Taupe. The coffee table is from Stanley Furniture, and sofa and chairs are custom made.

The scrollwork is stunning on this wood console table from Hooker Furniture. Kelsey Wiley said the blues and greens, including accessories from Uttermost, help the home feel fresh and updated.

"I like interesting pieces," Kelsey Wiley said. Accessories are vibrant and sculptural, including this metal orbit candleholder on a coffee table from Stanley Furniture.

Kelsey Wiley's favorite piece of furniture is the Branches Mahogany Buffet, by John-Richard, in the dining room. Its mercury glass brings shimmer to the room, which has custom upholstered chairs and artwork from Uttermost.

Sherwin-Williams macadamia paint provides a neutral backdrop for the warm browns and coppers in kitchen. When the Wileys bought the Marietta house in 2015, the kitchen already had the range hood and granite countertops.

For casual fall dining, the wood kitchen table is topped with candles and gourds. The orbit chandelier is from Progressive Lighting, and the custom armchairs on each end of the table are from Stanley Furniture.

Schenck Wiley's office has floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelves, which his wife said requires plenty of decorative bookends. The bookshelves and vaulted ceiling are among the couple's favorite architectural elements. The executive desk and chair are from Hooker Furniture.

The keeping room leans a bit toward rustic, with wood beams, a stone fireplace and leather furniture. The painting over the sofa is from Uttermost.

The homeowners or their guests can cozy up near the stone fireplace in a neutral houndstooth accent chair with a faux cowhide throw.

The keeping room's faux candle chandelier, from Progressive Lighting, and the room's rustic elements help to create the home's updated transitional look.

Botanical decor in the keeping room keeps the space feeling fresh. The canvas, lamp and decorative pears are all from Uttermost.

Tones of gold create a restful glow in the master bedroom. The bed is one of the pieces the homeowners owned before moving in to the Marietta house. The Waterford bedding is from Macy's.

A chaise from Highland House Furniture and with a place to put a drink or a book on the side table from Hooker Furniture, form a relaxing sitting area for Kelsey and Schenck Wiley.

The gold edging of this multiring mirror in the master bedroom ties it to the metallics in the furniture and bedding.

An in-wall fireplace brings warmth -- literally -- to the master bedroom. The walls are Sherwin-Williams balanced beige; bedside chest is from Hooker Furniture; and bedding is from Macy's.

The neutral palette in the master bedroom extends into the tiled master bathroom, complete with an oversize shower with diamond accents.

The Wileys' basement is equipped with a wet bar, making it a prime spot for movie nights and entertaining.

The fWileys'finished basement is often where the couple hangs out with friends. There is a pool table, home theater, exercise room and workroom for projects.

Kelsey and Schenck Wiley moved into their Marietta home in 2015 with their cat, Scooter. Schenck is an engineer, and Kelsey is a chemist. For their updated transitional interiors, they enlisted the help of Linda Castle, owner of Kennesaw-based Decorated Designs.
