Majic 107.5/97.5, just a month after hiring former V-103 host Ryan Cameron, has hired from the V-103 staff again. This time, they are giving Jarard J the evening time slot.

It's the first time in three years Majic has had an evening host since Rene Miller. (Miller is now at Smooth Jazz 101.1.)

Jarard J, who had been doing weekend work for V-103 but was not under contract, will start at Majic on Monday, November 19 from 6 to 10 p.m. after Cameron.

Cameron, in the final moments of his final day at V-103 earlier this year, gave a specific shout out to Jarard:

"You remind me of me," Cameron told Jarard, whose full name is Jarard Johnson. "You're going to do big things. Maybe not here. You have the talent. You have the gift. Get the bag, bro!"

Now they’ve effectively been reunited on the same station.

"We've been fans of Jarard for a minute," said Majic program director Derek Harper. "He's clearly somebody that caught our attention."

In an interview, Jarard J said he wants to create a high energy, interactive show. “I also want to make it real sexy at the same time,” he said. “Grown and sexy.”

And he’s excited just to bounce ideas off his mentor Cameron.

“He’s such a success,” Jarard said. “That’s not by accident. You need to listen to a person like that and follow his guidance.”

At age 37, Jarard said the music on Majic fits him perfectly - the New Jack swing, the classic R&B and hip hop from the 1990s and 2000s.

Since he left Cameron's morning show, Jarard joined AutoNation Nissan as a finance manager, a position he plans to keep while working at Majic. (Weekend work at V obviously didn't pay the bills. He had also filled in at V-103 for Frank Ski mornings when he was out.)

Majic had originally offered the evening slot to its former afternoon hosts Silas "SiMan" Alexander and Chubb Rock but they declined. Both plan to continue to do some freelance work for Majic while seeking other employment.
