Don Williams, who won 174 games, three region titles and two state championships at George Walton Academy, has retired as a head coach and will be replaced by offensive coordinator Shane Davis. Williams will remain at George Walton as dean of athletics.

Williams just completed his 25th season as head coach of the Walton County private school that won Georgia Independent School Association championships in 2003 and 2009 before joining the GHSA in 2010. His first GHSA team went 10-2, demonstrating that GISA schools could be competitive in the larger GHSA. George Walton was 174-113-1 under Williams, 8-3 in 2018.

Davis, his successor, joined the staff this season as offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. He had been Grayson's strength-and-conditioning coach and formerly was a head coach at Apalachee.

Stone Mountain, Spencer coaches step down

Justin Newnan of Spencer and James Collier of Stone Mountain have stepped down. Newman, in his only season, was 3-8. He had been Jordan's coach the previous two seasons. Collier was 1-9 and 2-8 in two seasons at Stone Mountain.
