DeVos is best for Sec. of Education
Of all the publicly funded government programs in our country, public education is probably the most important expenditure that we authorize. This is true because, more than every other public expenditure, education is the most important determinant in the success of a child’s life. Because of this trust that American taxpayers — and even our children — put in our government, it is vital that we choose leaders that understand that expanding options and choices within education is how we lift up and improve all of our public schools.
This is why I support Betsy DeVos for U.S. Secretary of Education. For the past 28 years, she has fought valiantly for the interests of parents and school children when public sector unions and school administrators resisted efforts to expand school choice or to allow public monies to follow the child to the school that best suits him or her.
I am proud that U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson has the opportunity to help push DeVos’ nomination through the Senate, and I hope he will help advance President-elect Trump’s education agenda by supporting DeVos. She is a proven conservative reformer with a big heart and passion for children.

PolitiFact story a waste of space
It’s disappointing to see Politifact Georgia wasting it’s time to verify that Trump’s tweet about Jackie Evancho’s career upswing is true. (“Trump tweets he’s good for singer’s career; and he’s correct,” News, Jan. 7). Considering all the important issues occurring during the Trump transition, focusing on such trivia should be an insult to most of your readers. I understand it may be difficult to find statements from Trump on substantial issues that are entirely true, and finding any true statement was the ultimate objective, but have patience and maybe one will show up in the next month or so.
