As the threat of a government shutdown looms, will the left stick with their vision for immigration, or compromise with Trump for the “Dreamers” sake? A roundup of editorials Thursday takes a look at the choice the left faces.

Opinions from the left:

1. Democrats hitch their party to immigrants

From Bloomberg: The commitment to the issue of immigration is politically risky for Democrats, but now they must stick with it.

2. Democrats will need to explain if they shut government down over illegal immigration

From The Hill: Democrats have to decide if shutting down the government is worth not compromising with Trump on issues they have long supported.

3. What Trump did was bad. What Democrats did is worse.

From The Washington Post: Democrats have shown this past week that they care more about getting Trump then they do about helping Dreamers, and those actions could severely damage the party.
