Former Georgia Tech A-back Isiah Willis was admitted into the National Football Foundation’s Hampshire Honor Society, which recognizes athletic and academic excellence over the course of a player’s career. The foundation made the announcement Wednesday.

Willis was one of 1,089 players from 297 schools to be honored. To gain admission to the society, players must have been a starter or significant contributor in their final season of play, achieved a 3.2 cumulative GPA throughout their course of undergraduate study and met all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress toward graduation.

After starting 10 games in the 2015 season, Willis was a part of the A-back rotation this past season, playing in all 13 games. Willis, who was put on scholarship before the 2015 season after joining the team as a walk-on out of Lassiter High, earned his business administration degree in December 2015 and is scheduled to earn his MBA at the end of the 2017 fall semester.

He is the sixth Tech player to earn the honor following the society’s founding in 2007 — Kevin Tuminello, Darryl Richard, Roddy Jones, Will Jackson and Patrick Skov are the others.
