After a day-long delay at the intersection of Jimmy Carter and Peachtree Industrial boulevards, one of Gwinnett County’s busiest arteries reopened about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

The intersection had been closed since 2:15 a.m., when traffic lights were knocked down by a passenger car due to a possible street race.

Gwinnett police Cpl. Deon Washington said the crash caused “massive delays in the area” as crews worked to repair the signals.
