An anti-abortion rights group held a rally Monday at the state Capitol, one day after the 44th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the historic Supreme Court decision that allowed abortion under the Due Process Clause.

A few hundred people were in attendance at the rally, organized by Georgia Right To Life, to listen to speakers, testimonies and gather for a silent march. Among those in the audience were state Rep. Ed Setzler, R- Acworth, state Sen. Bill Heath, R- Bremen, and state Sen. Marty Harbin, R-Tyrone.

Former congressman Paul Broun delivered a prayer before the crowd and offered public gratitude for President Donald Trump, who was inaugurated into office Friday, saying a “president who is pro-life” will help pass a bill to “protect the sanctity of life.”

Still, Jason Benham, a speaker who, along with his brother, starred in a former HGTV reality show “Flip It Forward,” insisted the cause for organizing is spiritual.

“Abortion is not a political issue. It’s a gospel issue,” he said.
