Atlanta could wake up to near freezing temperatures this weekend.
Currently, the temperature is 54 degrees, but that number will drop considerably as the night progresses.
“Skies will remain clear and there is no threat of rain for Friday night,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.
But now that the sun is gone, temps will drop and reach the 40s overnight.
Atlanta is expected to wake up to 39 degrees Saturday, Nitz said. The average for this time of year is 47.
A freeze warning was issued for parts of North Georgia effective from noon to 9 a.m. Saturday, Channel 2 reported. Fannin, Lumpkin, Union, Towns and White counties are affected by the warning.
Parts of the metro area are expected to reach the mid-60s Saturday. Atlanta’s expected high is 56 degrees.
There is a 20 percent chance of rain Sunday, bringing clouds and drizzle to the city, Nitz said. The expected high is 52 degrees.
Temps should return to the mid-60s in Atlanta on Monday, when there is a 20 percent chance of rain.
