Scattered storms have mostly moved to the southeast corner of the metro Atlanta area, Channel 2 Action News reported.

However, there is a second wave of storms moving through Alabama that’s expected to arrive in North Georgia later this evening. Channel 2 reported that projections show the storms weakening before entering Georgia.

Areas northeast of the metro area had a brief tornado warning scare around 3:30 p.m., but it was canceled shortly afterward by the National Weather Service. No damages have been reported.

For drivers, wet pavement may be the biggest concern this evening, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

I-75 has had multiple afternoon crashes, and the latest has blocked a left lane near North Marietta Parkway, the Traffic Center reported. Interstate traffic in both directions is heavy.

I-20 in DeKalb County is enduring two wrecks, according to the Traffic Center. One westbound left lane is blocked near Panola Road and one eastbound right lane is blocked near Wesley Chapel Road, and both are causing significant delays.

Otherwise, the Traffic Center map shows a lot of slow-moving areas during the evening commute.

And metro Atlanta is settling in for a rainy weekend. Showers and storms are likely every day into early next week. Between today and Monday morning, Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said parts of North Georgia could get up to 2 inches of rain.

Rain chances increase to 70 percent Saturday, according to the latest forecast. The rain chance remains above 60 percent through Tuesday.

The rain Friday night is expected to ramp up around 9 p.m. and into late evening, which could spell trouble for sports fans.

It could be a factor for the end of the Braves game against the Colorado Rockies. First pitch is 7:35 p.m. at SunTrust Park.

It could also dampen tailgating at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the Falcons’ second game of the preseason as well as the first Friday night of Georgia high school football.

The Falcons face the Kansas City Chiefs at 7 p.m. in the exhibition home opener.
