Beat writer Doug Roberson offers his suggestions for the best road trips for Atlanta United supporters this season:

May 5 at Chicago: If you go to this game, don't stay near Toyota Park, which is in Bridgeview, Ill. and a long way from Chicago. Stay in the city. Find a hotel/AirBNB/friend who lives near Michigan Avenue, which will put you within walking distance or an inexpensive taxi ride to so many wonderful places in the city.

May 13 at Orlando: The stadium is great, and there's every theme park imaginable nearby. Fun for the whole family.

June 9 at NYCFC: I'm not putting this on the list because of the venue because I think it's the worst in MLS. I'm putting it on the list because it's a trip to New York.

July 7 at Philadelphia: Again, don't stay near Talen Energy Stadium. Find a place near Chestnut Street in the Old City. From there, you can walk to Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Benjamin Franklin Museum, Museum of the American Revolution, National Museum of American Jewish History, etc. It can be a wonderful way to spend a day or two.

Sept. 2 at D.C. United: If you can't tell, I love history. This game will be Labor Day weekend, so you can make a long weekend of not only visiting D.C. United's new home of Audi Field, but take in everything that our nation's capital offers. The stadium is located near enough to all the attractions: the National Mall, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, the White House, the Smithsonian, etc.
