How the winning run scored: After intentionally walking PawSox center fielder and number six batter Josh Kroeger to load the bases with none out in the seventh, Braves pitcher Eric Junge followed by walking right fielder Eric Hassan. A single by third baseman Nate Spears allowed first baseman Mauro Gomez to score the go ahead run. The Sox would score all six of their runs in this inning.
At the Plate: Braves designated hitter Ernesto Mejia led off the second inning with a first pitch home run to left center field. The homer, Mejia's 11th, was also his team-leading 44th RBI of the season. Sox starter Justin Germano (W, 7-3) pitched his first complete game of the season; giving up only two more hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
On the mound: Junge (L, 3-6) worked 6-2/3 innings, giving up six earned runs on eight hits. He walked three and struck out a season-high six. Jaye Chapman went 1-1/3 innings in relief, surrendering two hits and a walk while striking out one.
Up Next for Gwinnett: The Braves have two more games at Pawtucket followed by an off day before returning home Thursday for five against the Columbus Clippers. The Columbus series features a double header beginning at 5:05 p.m. Thursday, with the second game Thursday a makeup of a May 4 postponement in Columbus
