Mercedes-Benz Stadium delay angers Atlanta United fans

After the announcement of delays to the roof structure and steelwork on Tuesday afternoon, Atlanta United will no longer open Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 30.

Atlanta United’s first game in the new stadium will be Sept. 9 against Dallas with the stadium delay affecting three home Atlanta United games.

Atlanta United season ticket holders will receive a credit for each seat owned and can expect to receive a refund back to their account within the next week, Atlanta United announced on Tuesday.

The Atlanta Falcons are now expected to open the stadium on Aug. 26 for the Falcons’ exhibition game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Atlanta United fans and sports fans were critical of the stadium’s third delay.
