Javon Jackson had planned to announce his commitment before Sandy Creek High School’s season-opener on Aug. 21.
But the 3-star had a change of plans.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder told the AJC on Friday that he’ll wait until the end of the season to announce. He was close to deciding between South Carolina and Duke earlier this week, but felt he was rushing his decision.
“My Dad wants me to wait it out until the end of the season,” Jackson said. “He wants to make sure that I’m going to the right school.”
While Duke and South Carolina still lead, one school that’s flying on Jackson’s radar is Georgia Tech. He hopes to receive an offer from the Yellow Jackets this season.
“Their scheme fits my style, and I like their academics, too,” Jackson said.
