With the Cleveland Cavaliers trading away several big names Thursday before the 3 p.m. trade deadline, the Atlanta Braves decided to protect their assets.

“Sources: The Braves have informed the (Cavaliers) that (Freddie Freeman) is untouchable and not available for trade at this time,” the Fox Sports Braves Twitter account wrote.

As of 2 p.m. on Thursday, the Cavaliers had traded away Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye to the Lakers, Iman Shumpert to the Kings, Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose to the Jazz and Dwyane Wade to the Heat.

In return the Cavaliers acquired Larry Nance, Jr. and Jordan Clarkson from the Lakers, George Hill from the Kings and Rodney Hood from the Jazz.
