Five things to know about Cardinals-Falcons matchup

The Falcons have a 4-9 record entering Sunday's home game against the Cardinals.

The Falcons (4-9) will face the Cardinals (3-10) at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Cardinals are in their first season under former Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks and are led by rookie quarterback Josh Rosen.

Here are five stats that set up the matchup:

1. Fitzgerald is great: With 5:48 left in the third quarter of last week's game against the Lions, Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald caught a 14-yard pass from Rosen. It moved Fitzgerald (1,282) past Hall of Famer Jerry Rice (1,281 with the 49ers) for the most catches in NFL history with one team.

2. Series history: This will be the 30th regular-season meeting. The Cardinals lead the series 15-14. The two teams have played in the playoffs one, with the Cardinals winning after the 2008 season.

3. Jones great, too: In the 34-20 loss to the Packers on Sunday, Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones became the first player in NFL history to have more than 1,400 yards receiving in five consecutive seasons. Jones currently leads the league in receiving yards at 1,429 on the season. He also has 94 catches and five touchdowns. His 109.9 yards receiving per game, also leads the league.

4. No homecoming: Cardinals defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche suffered a knee injury early in the fourth quarter against the Lions and did not return. He played at Grayson High School before going on to star at Mississippi. He was placed on injured reserve on Monday.

5. Winning is hard: Two of the Cardinals wins have come over the 49ers. The Cardinals beat the Packers 20-17 at Lambeau Field, causing the Packers to fire long-time coach Mike McCarthy.
