Steelers HC Mike Tomlin gives positive news on Ryan Shazier, Mike Mitchell’s injuries

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a 31-28 win over the Green Bay Packers on primetime television, and have also won six-straight games to go along with it. Things are certainly trending upward in a big way for the 9-2 Steelers, but as we’ve seen so many times in the NFL, the health of players can go a long way toward late-season and even postseason success.

This is why when Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin spoke about the injuries to linebacker Ryan Shazier and safety Mike Mitchell, it was a pretty big deal. As Steelers Depot reported, Tomlin believes that both Shazier and Mitchell, who are dealing with ankle injuries, should be good to go for the upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Any AFC North battle is always intense, but the Steelers heading to Cincinnati to take on a 5-6 Bengals team who’s pushing for the playoffs could make for a tough spot. Pittsburgh is going to need all hands on deck for this, and that obviously includes Shazier, who’s their leading tackler with 87 on the year.

Shazier also has racked up 11 passes defensed, five tackles for loss, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles. His status ahead of this game will be talked about quite a bit, but if he’s good to go, it’s a nice boost for the defense, obviously.
