Steelers WR Antonio Brown misses Friday practice with injury

Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown did not participate in practice on Friday.

Brown missed practice because of a toe injury but it is minor and shouldn’t keep him out of the Steelers’ Monday Night Football matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

With a No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs well within their reach the Steelers don’t need Brown hampered by injury, who also surely doesn’t want to put the brakes on another monster season. Though 11 games he has 80 receptions for 1,195 yards and 8 touchdowns.

The 2016 season did not end the way Brown or the Steelers wanted it to after concluding the regular season with a seven-game winning streak, and advancing to their first AFC Championship Game since his rookie season.

However, he posted a Facebook Live video from their locker room after a divisional-round win against the Kansas City Chiefs. That video featured Steelers coach Mike Tomlin asking his team to keep a low profile as they got ready to play the New England Patriots. It also caught Tomlin using some NSFW work language in his excitement.

Brown deleted the video quickly, apologized and was fined by the team.

In the months following their loss to the Patriots the Steelers made Brown the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. It appears that video controversy is ancient history now that Brown is making the strongest case of his career that at 5-foot-10, he is the best wide receiver in the NFL.
