Shea McClellin’s 2017 season is likely over before it even got started.
McClellin isn’t expected to come off injured reserve anytime soon, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. The New England Patriots outside linebacker had been practicing the last couple weeks with the hope of returning soon. It looks like that hope is gone because he apparently suffered a setback.
The sixth-year linebacker has been out this season with an undisclosed injury. He was eligible to come off injured reserve this week.
McClellin’s registered 202 tackles and 8.5 sacks in his career.
The 6-foot-3 linebacker has new company on injured reserve. New England officially placed linebacker Dont’a Hightower on season-ending injured reverse on Tuesday, per Field Yates of ESPN.
There is some good news for the Patriots on defense. Cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore and Eric Rowe are expected to return in Week 10.
