After 10 seasons, Darren McFadden is walking away from the game of football. On Tuesday afternoon, the former Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders running back officially announced his retirement through a statement on his Twitter account.

In his statement, McFadden said that he felt privileged to play in the NFL for so long, and made his decision without sadness. He went on to thank his wife, Tanya, his parents, Graylon, Cookie, and Mini, several former teammates and coaches, Dallas owner Jerry Jones and his family, the late Al Davis, Leecie Henson, a high school mentor, and his agent, Ian Greengross.
