A nagging hamstring injury has plagued Chidobe Awuzie’s rookie season. The Dallas Cowboys cornerback is eager to breakout from what’s been an injury riddled season for him.
Awuzie had an interesting analogy to describe his mindset as he hopes to make his hamstring struggles a thing of the past.
“When a dog gets hit by a car he doesn’t want to get off the porch any more. I want to get off the porch,” Awuzie explained, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “I don’t want to get in that mentality where I’m stuck on the porch.”
Awuzie’s missed five of the last six games for the Cowboys. The cornerback is hoping to leave the “porch” this week. He’s expected to participate in practice this week. His body’s response through a couple days of practice will determine if he’ll play on Sunday versus the Atlanta Falcons. The Cowboys are optimistic that Awuzie will be able to return in Week 10. He’s currently listed as questionable.
The rookie second-round pick has six tackles in three games for the Cowboys.
