Dream’s Collen earns second-straight WNBA Coach of the Month honor

Atlanta Dream coach Nicki Collen earned her second-straight WNBA Coach of the Month honor for her team’s performance during August, the league announced Monday.

Collen— in her first year as head coach— led the Dream to a 7-1 record in August as the team clinched the No. 2 seed in the 2018 WNBA Playoffs.

The Dream (23-11) went 4-0 at home and 3-1 on the road to end the regular season.

During the past month, the Dream outscored opponents by an average of 7.3 points. Defensively, the Dream were also dominant, leading the league in forced turnovers (14),  blocks (6.88) and opponent shooting percentage outside the arc (30 percent). 

Other nominees for the WNBA Coach of the Month honor in August were Connecticut Sun coach Curt Miller, Seattle Storm coach Dan Hughes and Washington Mystics coach Mike Thibualt.
