While Georgia Tech has yet to release its football schedule, dates of two games are known.

BYU announced its schedule Monday, which includes an Oct. 27 visit to Bobby Dodd Stadium. It’s the first of four scheduled games between the two schools. Tech will also open with Virginia Tech on Labor Day (Sept. 3) in Blacksburg, Va.

Tech athletic director Dan Radakovich scheduled the Cougars in order to bring a name opponent to the even-year home schedule, when Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia Tech are all away games for the Yellow Jackets. That attempt may become moot when Pittsburgh and Syracuse join the ACC, by 2014 at the latest. The school hopes that the new scheduling format to accommodate a 14-team league will provide an opportunity to balance the even- and odd-year schedules.

The ACC schedule was expected to be released in early February, but West Virginia’s cancellation of its Sept. 8 game against Florida State on Feb. 3 scrambled that plan. ACC spokesman Mike Finn said Tuesday in an email that the league is waiting on FSU to find a replacement game before it releases the schedule.

West Virginia canceled the game as it will begin Big 12 play this fall.
