It’s not secret that Tennessee is desperate at this point. They’ve cycled through so many names at this point that it isn’t funny.
Their latest target is Mike Gundy. Early reports said they were meeting in Dallas at 11 AM Central, but there’s also a flight chartered from Knoxville to Stillwater. Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports says that Gundy can name his price.
Hard to overstate the amount of leverage Gundy has on Tennessee right now. (Per @BruceFeldmanCFB and others, they are meeting). He can almost name his price.

Tennessee is, well, desperate. They’ve had so many names turn them down, and the Schiano fiasco left them with egg on their faces. They know they need a home run hire, and they wouldn’t be meeting with Gundy in either Dallas or Stillwater if they thought there wasn’t a chance.
But, how big is that chance? It’s probably less than those outside of Oklahoma think. Gundy is reportedly on good terms with T. Boone Pickens for the first time in a while, he seems calm and relaxed in his position, and his offense is making headlines across the nation. If Tennessee pulls this off, it’ll be a solid hire for Tennessee, regardless of what their fickle fans think.
