Wisconsin football revealed some brutal news Thursday morning, as Paul Chryst announced linebacker Jack Cichy will miss the 2017 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Cichy suffered the injury during practice on Tuesday and will undergo surgery on Friday. Cichy, a former walk-on, missed the second half of the 2016 season with a torn pectoral.
“You hate it for Jack,” Chryst said in Wisconsin’s release. “You only get so many chances to play this game and you never want to see a guy miss any of those opportunities. He’s one of the leaders of our team and I know he’ll be a big part of what we do moving forward this season.”
