Wisconsin basketball coach Greg Garg has filled a vacancy on his coaching staff by hiring Wisconsin grad Marc VandeWettering, the team announced in a release Monday.
VandeWettering, who graduated from Wisconsin in 2015, will serve as the Badgers’ director of basketball operations after spending the last year with the Big Ten Conference as the assistant director of basketball and football operations.
“We are really excited to welcome Marc back to the program,” Gard said in a statement. “His experience with our program and knowledge of how things operate make him a natural for this position.”
VandeWettering has been with the Badgers’ basketball program before, spending time as student-manager as well as head manager for Wisconsin. He was also the team’s program assistant during the 2014-2015 season, assisting the Badgers during their run to the national championship game.
“During his time as a manager, program assistant and with the conference office, he has proven time and again the work ethic and organizational skills to keep our program running smoothly,” Gard said in a statement.
VandeWettering replaces the basketball operations vacancy that was left by former director of basketball operations Kat Vosters. Vosters left the position to become the director of student-athlete recruitment at Wisconsin after directing basketball operations for three seasons.
