Wisconsin basketball doesn’t have the decorated senior class from last season. But freshmen are having huge games during the 5-game Down Under trip.

Freshmen Kobe King, Brad Davison and Nate Reuvers combined for 31 points in the Badgers’ 75-68 win against the Hawthorn Magic on Saturday.

King was the star, scoring 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting. He also added 5 rebounds. Davison had 9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Reuvers chipped in with 4 points, 2 boards and 3 assists.

“Kobe was really aggressive today,” Davison said in the team’s official release. “He’s a great player and really athletic. He got some offensive rebounds to get himself going and then he got out in transition. Whenever you can get out in transition it gets you confident and more comfortable. He took advantage of that today and played really well.”

After three games on the exhibition trip, King is second on the team with 10 points per game. Brevin Pritzl, who had 7 points on Saturday, leads with 14.3 points per game.

The Badgers next play Melbourne United on Sunday before finishing with a game in Sydney on August 22.
