Welcome to The Podcast on the Plains, SEC Country’s daily Auburn Tigers podcast with host Zac Blackerby. In this edition, Noah Gardner of ESPN 106.7 in Auburn joins the discussion to talk about Auburn softball, former Auburn running back Roc Thomas’ season debut with Jacksonville State, and a preview of the Tigers season opener against Georgia Southern.
It is finally game week on The Plains, but the big news that surfaced over the weekend relates to the Auburn softball program. With strong allegations coming from a former player and coach Clint Myers retiring last week, there are a lot of question swirling around the team.
Thomas, the former back for the Tigers, was impressive in Jacksonville State’s opening 27-13 win over Chattanooga on Saturday. He amassed 122 yards rushing and another 68 receiving in the contest. With the topic of third-string running back hovering around Auburn all offseason, it is a fair question to ask if Auburn would like to have Thomas on the roster this season.
Gardner shares his list of what the Tigers need to do in their season opener and explains why they need to get off the field early.
