What Tennessee’s chancellor said as Phillip Fulmer introduced as AD

On Friday Tennessee chancellor Beverly Davenport announced that athletic director John Currie was suspended and that Phillip Fulmer would be promoted to acting athletic director.

Fulmer, who coached at Tennessee from 1992-2008, will lead the coaching search.

Below is what was said by both Fulmer and Davenport.

It has been a wild week for Tennessee that begun with the hiring of Greg Schiano getting the Tennessee job and then not getting after the Tennessee fan base revolted. Then Tennessee and Currie missed on a number of candidates culminating with Mike Leach on Thursday reportedly agreeing to the job and then not getting it.

Tennessee does not yet have a coach named yet. Davenport declined to answer any questions regarding coaching candidates.
