On way to Penn State, Rutgers football team bus catches fire

This is not how Rutgers wanted to begin its weekend.

In general, the Scarlet Knights take multiple team buses to road games, and on Friday, en route to Penn State for the game against the Nittany Lions on Saturday, one of the buses caught fire.

Thankfully, no Rutgers player or staff member was injured. However, one Pennsylvania state trooper was injured following a tire exploding during an attempt to put out the flames — according to 247Sports.

The team’s arrival was delayed by 30 minutes due to the fire and each of the buses pulled over once the incident began.

Game time for the Rutgers-Penn State matchup is at 12 p.m. ET. The contest will be televised on BTN and you can follow our live updates for the game as it takes place here.
