Greg Schiano’s name may forever be linked to Tennessee after Vols fans protested his reported hiring on Sunday, but he still has a job at Ohio State.
And the Buckeyes have a pretty important game coming up. Schiano, who serves as the team’s defensive coordinator under Urban Meyer, will be in charge of developing a gameplan for stopping unbeaten Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game on Saturday. If he can regain his focus after being a national story on Sunday. After all, a trip to the College Football Playoff is on the line.
During his regular Monday press conference, Meyer was asked to address how his assistant coach was treated when the news surfaced that he might be named the next coach at Tennessee.
Here’s a look at his response:
"He's an elite person, elite father, elite husband, elite friend and elite football coach. I stand by my coach."

The deal between Schiano and Tennessee is dead, leaving all sorts of questions about his coaching future. Prior to working for Meyer, Schiano served as a head coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and at Rutgers.
