In a surprise twist, Alabama could find themselves thanking former Florida QB Tim Tebow for what he said about the Crimson Tide on ESPN Friday morning.
In a spirited challenge of the College Football Playoff’s mission to take the “best four” teams, Tebow passionately defended one-loss Alabama over undefeated Wisconsin.

“I’m saying they’re not one of the four best teams,” Tebow said of Wisconsin. “If you’re telling me that it’s the four best teams, Max, then it can’t be ‘who’s most deserving, who’s undefeated?’ It has to be the four best teams. And you and me both know that if right here in the Mercedes Benz Dome, if Alabama played Wisconsin they would probably beat the brakes off of ’em.
“And so when you say the four best teams, then don’t say undefeated, don’t say deserving, don’t say strength of schedule, don’t say strength of record, because it’s not the four best. If you look at film, (Wisconsin) is not one of the four best teams.”
Those are strong words from Tebow, but he might a point. Despite the Badgers’ clean résumé, they haven’t recruited anywhere near the Crimson Tide and have benefitted from a relatively easy schedule for a Power 5 team.
Alabama will find out its fate on Sunday afternoon following conference championship games on Saturday.
