Alabama has had some interesting adventures with field goal kicking over the past several years. There’s the epic game against LSU in 2011 when Cade Foster and Jeremy Shelley combined to go 2-for-6 on attempts in the 9-6 overtime loss to the Tigers, not to mention the famous Kick Six against Auburn that will go down in football lore.
So, if Crimson Tide fans are a little edgy when the field goal unit comes on the field, it can be understood. The people at SEC Shorts posted a hilarious video showing what Alabama fans might look like during those exact moments:
Between the woman clutching the picture of Van Tiffin’s 52-yard winning field goal against Auburn in 1985, or the man in the corner warming up the defibrillators, the scene could be accurate.
It might not get easier for fans either: in the season-opening win against Florida State this past Saturday, kicker Andy Pappanastos was just 3-for-5 on field goal attempts, with his long coming from 35 yards.
