South Carolina running back commitment Deshaun Fenwick rushed for 133 yards and 4 touchdowns in the opening game of his senior season at Braden River (Fla.) High School.
The first play on the highlight clip posted below is a 50-yard scoring run that clinched the Thursday night win for Braden River, according to Jason Dill of bradenton.com.
“I saw that they only had one linebacker in the box,” Fenwick said. “No one to the left side. I rushed (quarterback Bryan) Gagg to get the snap off, and I had a really good block on the outside. The safety came over late, and I just had to make a move on him.”
Braden River beat Chatfield (Littleton, Colo.), 49-32.
“He had something in him where I was like, ‘Woah,’” Chatfield coach Bret McGatlin said. “I could tell when he got going, our guys just bounced off him. He’s a good athlete.”
Fenwick (6-1, 225) needed 18 carries to accumulate his 133 yards and 4 scores on the ground.
According to the 247Sports composite, he’s ranked as the No. 12 all-purpose running back in the Class of 2018. The 3-star recruit committed to South Carolina over offers from Georgia, Texas, Missouri, Ole Miss, USF and UCF.
