The always-entertaining Dabo Swinney appeared on Golic & Wingo on Wednesday morning, hours after his Clemson Tigers earned the No. 1 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings.
The conversation turned to Saturday’s ACC Championship Game against Miami, whose turnover chain has taken on a life of its own in recent weeks.
Here’s what Swinney had to say about the chain, and turnovers in general:
“Every week we have a daily focus and yesterday was our ‘turnover Tuesday’ if you will,” Swinney said. “We talk a lot about that (turnovers) every week how important turnover margin is. We study the other team and look at us. Both of these teams. We’ve scored 77 points off of turnovers this year and they’ve scored 72 points off turnovers this year. Both teams have been opportunistic. I think we have had a non-offensive touchdown in every road game that we have had this year so I think both teams have done a good job with that and that certainly will probably be the difference in the game Saturday night with turnover margin and a couple big plays. That’s usually what it comes down to in championship football. They have had an unbelievable year and hope to keep that chain in the box whatever they carry it in.”
Saturday is going to be fun.
