WATCH: Best plays from Sean Taylor’s legendary Miami Hurricanes career

The late Sean Taylor is gone but he’ll never be forgotten.

Today marks the 10-year anniversary of the death of the former Miami Hurricanes legend and two-time Pro Bowl selection.

Taylor died on November 27, 2007 as a result critical injuries from a gunshot by intruders at his home in South Florida.

Taylor’s death was mourned by the entire country and especially in Washington where he was excelling at the time for the Redskins.

However, nowhere felt more sadness than South Florida. Taylor was one of us, a shining beacon of what football means to the area.

Growing up a low-income neighborhood in Miami, Taylor defied the odds to become one of the most dominant football players to ever lace up his cleats in the Tri-County area.

The menacing safety led Gulliver Prep to a state high school championship and set a state record for most touchdowns during his senior season.

Taylor’s winning ways continued when he joined his hometown Hurricanes. As a freshman, Taylor helped guide the program to the national title in 2001, their first since 1991.

Taylor saw an increase in snaps as a sophomore and amassed 85 tackles and four interceptions.

Taylor’s time in Coral Gables was capped off with a sensational junior campaign as he racked up 77 tackles and a program-record 10 interceptions en route to being named the Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Taylor was selected with the fifth pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Redskins and had 299 tackles, 12 interceptions during his four-year professional career.

Taylor was inducted into the Miami Hurricanes’ Ring of Honor this season, with his daughter Jackie giving the speech.

In honor of the 10-year anniversary of his death, here’s some of the best moments from Taylor’s collegiate career:
