Washington State-Utah Preview

The Washington State Cougars (8-2, 4-2) still control their own destiny to a Pac-12 North title. However, they’ll need to defeat a Utah Utes team that is fresh off routing UCLA and seeking its sixth win to earn bowl eligibility.

Utah’s win over the Bruins broke a 4-game losing streak that was ignited when quarterback Tyler Huntley was injured last month — he’s since returned the lineup.

For the Cougars, they’re riding a two-game win streak punctuated by last week’s slugfest victory over Stanford. Saturday’s matchup also provides Cougars quarterback Luke Falk — a northern Utah native who was unheralded coming out of high school but is now one of the Pac-12’s most accomplished passers — a chance at a homecoming redemption.

Utah and Washington State are tied 7-7 in the all-time series, so Saturday’s tilt is also an opportunity to give the winner an edge in that department.
