If you ask LJ Scott, he’ll tell you it’s a “three-headed monster.”
In 2017, Michigan State brings back the trio of running backs that split time a year ago: Scott, Gerald Holmes and Madre London. Scott took the bulk of the carries, rushing 184 times for a team-leading 994 yards. Holmes, who now enters his senior season, finished with 431 yards. London rushed for 120.
The Spartans will rely on a strong rushing attack to take pressure off of a young quarterback, Brian Lewerke, and his young receiving corps. More consistent offensive line play will be crucial to making that happen.
Who will lead the Spartans in rushing yards this season? Let us know your thoughts. Maybe you don’t even think it will be a running back. You can make that guess as well.
But we wouldn’t advise it.
