The sports book South Point, has a prop that allows fans to bet on which conference will win the national championship. And the SEC came in with top odds at 3/2, followed by the Big 10 at 13/5.

It makes sense that the SEC would have top odds, given that Alabama is also a favorite to take home the title. Part of the reason the SEC may have superior odds is that conference may not have the top end depth that the Big 10 or ACC does. In the first Coaches Poll, Alabama was the only SEC team ranked in the top 10 The Big 10, Pac 12 and ACC all had multiple representatives.
Using the Coaches Poll, the best team in the SEC, Alabama, faces the best team in the ACC, Florida State, in the first week of the season. Those two teams meet in Atlanta on Sept. 2. In week 2, there is another pivotal ACC-SEC matchup, as Clemson visits Auburn.
