USC’s Ronald Jones, Deontay Burnett trending toward All-American honors

With less than a month left in the regular season, the cream is rising to the top in college football. This holds true for both teams and players, and USC figures into both areas.

The Trojans are 11 th in the latest College Football Playoff standings, leaving open the faint possibility they could sneak into the top four. And if that happens it will be due to the efforts of a pair of offensive stars who Pro Football Focus consider All-Americans at this point in the season.

Junior running back Ronald Jones II and junior wide receiver Deontay Burnett had been phenomenal for USC this season. Jones, coming off a 194-yard, 3-touchdown performance against Arizona last week, has run for 1,082 yards and 13 TDs this season.

His 91.2 rating is just ahead of Stanford’s Bryce Love, the FBS rushing leader, on the PFF team.

Burnett, rated as the third-best wideout in the country by PFF, leads the Pac-12 in receptions (63) and yards (832) with eight TDs.
