The Clemson Tigers (11-1, 7-1 ACC) are the new No. 1 team in the country.

After dropping to No. 3 last week, Clemson’s 34-10 win over South Carolina helped it jump two spots in the final College Football Playoff rankings of the regular season to claim the top spot heading into championship week. Previously ranked No. 1, Alabama lost to Auburn last weekend and No. 2 Miami fell to Pittsburgh, setting up the current order.

Now the Tigers can all but guarantee a lock for the top seed if they can beat the now-No. 7 Hurricanes in the ACC title game Saturday. Here’s how the top 10 now looks (but will assuredly change by Sunday evening):

1. Clemson (11-1)
2. Auburn (10-2)
3. Oklahoma (11-1)
4. Wisconsin (12-0)
5. Alabama (11-1)
6. Georgia (11-1)
7. Miami (10-1)
8. Ohio State (10-2)
9. Penn State (10-2)
10. USC (10-2)

It’s win and you’re in for Clemson, which Vegas considers as a 9.5-point favorite ā€” and ESPN’s FPI gives the Tigers a 74.8 percent chance to come out on top. Those are pretty good odds for the defending national champions, whose nine wins against top 40 competition clearly stands out to the playoff committee.

If you’re a Clemson fan you are probably smiling from ear to ear and for a great reason. Here’s the reaction to the team’s resurgence, reclaiming the No. 1 ranking after finishing with its seventh consecutive season of 10-plus wins:
