Tommy Tuberville on Auburn AD opening: I don’t think there’s anyone more qualified than me’

Tommy Tuberville knows the Auburn environment pretty well, given his time at the school. And while he passed a run at governor in Alabama, he seems to throwing his name in the ring for Auburn’s Athletic Director opening.

Tuberville, appearing on WNSP-FM 105.5 made a strong case for the opening.

“I would love to help Auburn’s athletic program,” Tuberville said. “I don’t think there’s anyone more qualified than me. I know it. I know the people. I know the boosters, the alumni. I know the city, the community. I would love to talk to the president, whether I am a candidate or whether I can help.”

Tuberville coached the Tigers from 1999 through 2008. He also coached at Ole Miss, Texas Tech and Cincinnati. This year he is working as a color commentator for ESPN.

Jay Jacobs announced last week that he would be stepping down from his position on June 1, 2018, and would step down sooner if a successor is found before then.
