There’s a theme to the Week 13 SEC Players of the Week, the final slate of honors for the conference in the regular season.
That theme is quarterbacks who play for the Tigers.
Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham led his Tigers to their second home upset win over a No. 1 team as they defeated Alabama at Jordan-hare Stadium on Saturday.
Missouir’s Drew Lock led his Tigers to a road win over Arkansas on Friday, capping a six-game win streak to close out the regular season, and breaking the SEC single-season passing touchdown record in the process.
In the Iron Bowl win, Stidham completed 21-of-28 passes for 237 yards and also rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown. His 75 percent completion percentage in the game tied for the second best (minimum 20 attempts) in Auburn-Alabama rivalry history. On third down passing, he was 7 for 9, with six completions yielding first downs.
Lock completed 25 of his 42 passes for a whopping 448 yards and 5 touchdowns, bringing him to 43 passing touchdowns on the year, his new SEC record. He led the Tigers back from two different 14-point deficits during the victory.
Other players receiving honors for the week included the following:
Defensive Player of the Week:
Devin White, LSU linebacker
Special Teams Player of the Week: Gary Wunderlich, Ole Miss kicker
Freshman of the Week: Jake Fromm, Georgia quarterback
Offensive Lineman of the Week: Greg Little, Ole Miss and Bruno Reagan, Vanderbilt
Defensive Lineman of the Week: Nick Coe, Auburn
