The Texas Tech Red Raiders finally got really good at taking the ball away this season, helping their defense improve from completely and totally awful to pretty good.
The Red Raiders have improved the number of turnovers they netted by 14, the biggest improvement across the Power 5 conferences, per a post from the Texas Tech Football Twitter account.

As always, some nifty editing came with the stat.
The turnaround has been heralded by Texas Tech’s stellar linebackers, Jordyn Brooks and Dakota Allen, but many others have been involved too. Tony Jones, Kolin Hill, and Mych Thomas have been instrumental across the defensive line, and Jah’Shawn Johnson and Justus Parker have been excellent in the secondary.
They might not have completely burst onto the scene this year, but the foundation for something special is in place, provided defensive coordinator David Gibbs stays with the program.
