No. 25 Texas A&M entered Friday night’s game as a road underdog to No. 11 West Virginia, but the Aggies shocked the college basketball world with a dominating 88-65 victory over the Mountaineers.
Despite a rocky few minutes — mostly caused by Bob Huggins’ patented “Press Virginia” defense — the Aggies controlled play most of the night. They shot 48.4 percent from the floor and 52.6 percent from 3-point range, never giving West Virginia’s offense a chance to catch up.
Texas A&M accomplished this despite the suspension of arguably its best player, Robert Williams.
Tyler Davis and Admon Gilder led the way, each scoring 23 points.
