Tennessee vs. Indiana State, Week 2: Game time, TV, how to watch online

KNOXVILLE — Tennessee coach Butch Jones preached “Details, Accountability and Toughness” throughout the offseason, and that’s exactly how the Vols opened the season on Monday night.

Tennessee looks to polish its game this week against Indiana State after escaping Atlanta with a 42-41 double-overtime victory over Georgia Tech on Monday.

The No. 21-ranked Vols (1-0) don’t figure to receive much of a challenge from the Sycamores of the FCS Missouri Valley Football Conference.

That said, Jones plans to break in a lot of young talent that Tennessee will be counting on when the Vols play SEC East Division rival Florida at The Swamp on Sept. 16.

Tennessee lost its top defensive player — middle linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. — to a season-ending knee injury in preseason drills. On Monday night, leading receiver Jauan Jennings reportedly suffered a broken wrist and will be sidelined indefinitely.

The Vols are still scrambling to sort out their linebacker corps, while Tennessee’s receiving corps ranks among the most inexperienced in the nation.

Junior quarterback Quinten Dormady needs more work with his receiving corps, but Jones is also likely to dispense redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano with his first action of a young collegiate career.
