Tennessee vs. Georgia Tech, Week 1: Game time, TV, how to watch online

ATLANTA — Tennessee coach Butch Jones kicks off his fifth year as Vols coach with a thankless opening opponent in the form of Georgia Tech.

The Yellow Jackets triple-option attack requires opponents to add a layer of preparation, as defenses must abandon some aggressive principles in favor of a disciplined, assignment-style of football.

The Vols have prepared a defense designed especially for this game, after which it no longer will be useful this season unless Tennessee were to somehow draw another option team in the postseason.

The Vols offense, meanwhile, will feature a new quarterback, a new play caller and likely several new looks.

Tailback John Kelly and receiver Jauan Jennings are the only experienced playmakers at their respective positions.

Jones is 4-0 in season-opening games at Tennessee, while Georgia Tech was 3-0 against SEC teams last season.
