KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — For all of the attention Tennessee’s quarterbacks competition has understandably received this offseason, there’s one key factor that is often overlooked.

The Vols quarterbacks can only be as good as their offensive line allows.

Former Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs made many plays happen with his great mobility after blocks were missed or plays broke down last season.

Neither junior Quinten Dormady nor redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano is ready to operate at that level.

Perhaps even more importantly, the Vols’ offensive line will need to prove effective run blocking to keep the offense on schedule, in terms of down-and-distance situations.

SEC Country’s Mike Griffith and WNML’s Josh Ward discuss the role the quarterbacks will play in the offense, and how they are limited by the players around them.
