KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Butch Jones has said from the start of fall camp that every snap and repetition of fall practice matters, and that’s more true than ever.
The season is closing in on Tennessee football’s Team 121, and the Vols still have plenty of work left to do and challenges ahead if they are to get that work done.
Jones faces a dilemma of sorts: The fifth-year head coach knows his team needs scrimmage work, but he also needs his team as close to full health as possible when facing Georgia Tech in the Sept. 4 opener.
A rash of injuries on the offensive line — specifically at the right tackle position — has Jones pondering canceling a fall scrimmage rather than put more players at risk for injury.
The game with the Yellow Jackets is arguably the biggest of Jones’ career to date, as it will set the tone for the a pivotal year in Tennessee football.
WNML’s Josh Ward and SEC country’s Mike Griffith discuss the issues Jones faces in today’s podcast.
